Lolo Jones, winner of both USA championships as well as the World Championships in hurdle events has reached her current standing with lots of effort and a huge amount of perseverance. Jones experienced a tough childhood because she was born to a single mother in a large family. Jones' mother moved constantly and even lived in the church basement. Jones her nomadic life led her to switch schools each year, until she reached she reached high school. Jones needed to be separated from her mother in Theodore Roosevelt School to follow her passion for track. Jones was a member of four different families in order to focus on her studies. Jones, a cellist in the school's orchestra as well as recipient of the Gatorade Track and Field Iowa athlete of the year award won her the Gatorade Iowa Athlete award at the end of high school.
